Traveling at night you see a light ahead a quiet little house you feel the pain in your side you can’t go any further. Wars came and changed all the people to strangers took the buildings away took the children away. Anticipating the worst on these cold summer days your love for yourself is all that keeps you going. Wandering alone in an old familiar land a full moon in the sky an empty gun in your hand. I’ve been waiting here forever to see a friendly face come though the door and now you’re here. I don’t mind breaking bread with company so good. Only wish it wasn’t just you and me. Sounds of freedom ringing overhead and in the distance where resistance still exists, in the caves and all the subdivisions. Can we pretend to go way back as friends. With a neighborly smile would you stay for a while.
I’ve been waiting here forever to see a friendly face come though the door and now you’re here. I don’t mind breaking bread with company so good. Only wish it wasn’t just you and me. It’s not every day someone stops my way please forgive me if I ramble on and on. The memories are strong the nights keep getting longer. I’ll never get used to these empty rooms.
